Old World Texture Transforms Southern Living Showcase Home
Old World texture is transforming the exterior of Nashville’s Southern Living Showcase Home in Dorset Park this week making it the first home in the region to use Sherwin William’s UltraCrete Acrylic Texture Coating.
French Country in style, the Southern Living Showcase Home has clay-fired brick as its foundation. With a straight edge, the brick is heated to more than 2,000 degrees giving it enduring strength. Part of the Hallmark Series, it was acquired locally from Union Station Brick.
Castle Homes’ crew hand-brushed and rolled the Ultracrete resulting in a textured appearance according to Alan Looney, president of Castle Homes.’
“We want to achieve an old world appearance at an affordable price. When working with Sherwin Williams, we came up with the idea of using a commercial product residentially creating an affordable, creative solution,” Looney said.
Mike Scott, Sherwin Williams’ District Sales Manager, said the product is great for exteriors and seen more commonly on commercial structures.
“Castle Homes is the first builder to use such a product on a home. It is something unique that Castle is doing and no other builder has tried. The sand-texture gives it a very unusual look and feel,” Scott said.
The exterior acrylic coating has a dimensional texture. Castle Homes’ in-house interior designer, selected a warm shade called Softer Tan. (Sherwin Williams, SW 6141) Castle Homes designer says, The color evokes a feeling of charming French countryside homes but with a fresher more modern feel.
In the end, the home has achieved a stunning century’s old appearance in ten days time with an elegant result.
