Castle Homes’ Lead Design Coordinator talks 2015 Home Design Trends with Brentwood Life
Lead design coordinator for this year’s Nashville Symphony Show House, and local interior designer Julie Couch, recently sat down with Brentwood Life magazine to discuss Home Design Trends for 2015.
“The kitchen is the number one spot everyone hangs out in the home, whether you want them in your kitchen or not,” says an interior designer with Castle Homes and the lead design coordinator for this year’s Nashville Symphony Show House. That’s one of the reasons why so many clients want to bring their kitchens into 2015, and the best way to do that, is to think, “Simplify.”
“White is still in for cabinets, or khaki or taupe,” she says. The important thing to create a modern look is to stick to a single, neutral color on cabinets, and to have a simple door style—no ornate panels or extraneous details. Cabinet hardware in brushed gold or bronze is a great complement, too. Finally, “LED is the next big thing” in kitchen lighting, lead design coordinator says. Using LED for cabinet or under-cabinet lighting is energy efficient, doesn’t emit heat, and banishes those dark corners from the room.”
